‘Don Bosco Plus’ Training in Chennai Province

A Group of 25 Scheduled Tribe Students (both girls and boys) from Don Bosco Vazhikatti - Talavadi and 30 students from Arch Bishop Casimir Gnanathikam Non Formal Technical Centre - Madurantakam successfully completed the ‘Don Bosco Plus’ training in Basics of computer, Life Skills, English language and Communication skills on July 31, 2010.

‘Don Bosco Plus’ course was organized and designed by the respective principals of the Institutions as a response to the specific needs of the youth of their centres. It was conducted for the duration of 3 to 6 months from Feb. 2010 to July 2010. The learning of English Language, Computer and Communication skills has put them at a much higher level not only in the level of knowledge and skills but also at the level of their self confidence and courage to face the life ahead.

The course was fully participatory in nature with interactive sessions such as, games, role plays, group work, songs, presentations etc. As a result of the training, the students felt that life skill modules were very much essential for their grooming and future life. The students seemed very confident, open, motivated, optimist after completion of the course.

The students experienced changes within themselves and saw changes in other friends in their relationships during the programme. They feel that programmes of this kind could be organized and conducted for other youth of the region as well.
