DB Tech-MoRD Launched in Alappuzha (Kerala)

The DB Tech-MoRD Project was launched in Alappuzha Manglam Church on July 16, 2010. The skill development programme for the rural BPL youth was inaugurated by his grace Dr. Stephen Athipozhiyil , the Bishop of the diocese of Alappuzha. Mr. P.P. Chitaranjan, the Municipal Chairman presided over the function. The local ward councilor, Mr. A. P. Mohanan was also present for the function.Fr. Fernandez Kakkasseril, the Chancellor of the diocese, Fr Joseph Thekkel, director of the centre, Fr Jose Thadathil, the asst director and Fr. Joy Nedumparambil, the Regional Coordinator of DB Tech South project were also present for the function.

The Bishop praised the Government of India in partnering with the Don Bosco society which has proved itself in reaching out to the poor youngsters across India in implementing this great project. He has urged the first batch of trainees who were present for the function to rise up to the occasion and be counted in the job market where there are enough opportunities. The municipal chairman congratulated the Manglam Church for having taken up the project and thus training and giving job opportunities for the poor youth from fisher folk communities of the coastal area. The dignitaries also spoke at length about the importance of this project under the present circumstances of the economic, social and demographic situations existing in India. Fr Joseph Thekkel welcomed the gathering and Fr Jose Thandathil thanked all those were present for the function and worked for setting up the infrastructure necessary for the training.
