Inauguration of the MoRD Project in Siliguri

Inauguration of The MoRD Project for the employment of BPL Youth was organized in the Don Bosco School Auditorium at 10 am on July 8, 2010 at Siliguri.

The function consisted of speeches of the esteemed dignitaries, cultural dances, hymns, group songs and presentations. Bishop Thomas D’Souza appreciated the good work of the Salesians of Don Bosco in this region by taking an active role in the education of the young especially the underprivileged.

Rev. Fr. M. A. Joseph, Rector & Principal, Don Bosco School Siliguri, highlighted the initiative of Salesian College in shouldering the responsibility of taking along the BPL Youth of North Bengal by launching MoRD Project for them. Fr. (Dr) George Thadathil, Principal, Salesian College, acknowledged the efforts of Rural Development, Government of India for training the BPL Youth for employment.

Prof. Bishwanath Chakraborty, Former Dean, Faculty of Science, NBU, spoke about the need to improve the quality of education for which Salesian College has already initiated the process. He highlighted that all the strata of the society must participate in the development of our country and this inclusive educational effort is seen very well at Salesian College as it educates and trains both the urban and the rural communities of North Bengal.

Fr. (Dr) Mathew George, Director, DB Tech Siliguri, proposed the vote of thanks and acknowledged the helping hand of all those involved in the enterprise of making the entire programme a success, especially at the launching of MoRD Project. He also appreciated the august presence of all the dignitaries at the occasion.
