Life skills training that make the Don Bosco students unique
5th & 6th March 2010 Kolkata, A two day life skill program was conducted for the Non Formal students of Don Bosco Technical Institute, Park Circus. 65 students participated for the program. This training was conducted with an intention to make aware the students, the importance of time and how one can develop interview skills. The training programme covered topics like “Communication”, “Motivation”, “Leadership Development”, “Time management”, “Preparing C.V” and “Problem Solving”.
Participants were facilitated to understand the effective listening behaviors, leading effective discussions, effective use of small groups etc. This program was made very lively by using experiences of great personalities, video clippings, games, and group discussions. The sessions had a great importance for these less privileged youth. They were also encouraged to take up social issues in their own particular locality thereby developing their leadership qualities. The program proved to be of support to these students to overcome their fears and inhibitions. It was also observed that such training in soft skills do assist them in improving their self image and level of confidence which further assists them in confidently coping with various challenges of life they face.
