Guwahati: 30th January 2010 An Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme was organized at Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli on 29th January 2010 by DB Tech Guwahati region. Resource Persons from National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC) and from Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) were invited to speak on the various self-employment schemes for the educated unemployed youths. More than 110 students participated in the programme.

In the inaugural session, the Province Resource Team briefed the audience about the DB Tech Network and its programmes and objectives. A short presentation on ‘Training from the Heart” was beamed on a projection screen for all to see. Mr. Horeswar Roy, Tech. Manager, presented NSIC’s mission and special tailor-made schemes to assist small enterprises. He further highlighted that NSIC is committed to the facilitation of marketing support, credit support, technology support and other support services. Mr. Ajay Bose - Economic Officer from KVIC discussed in detail about the government schemes especially the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) that is designed to support the unemployed youth. He discussed at length about the entire procedure of availing the PMEGP loan thereby motivating the youth to be self-employed.

An interaction and discussions took place among the panel of experts and participants facilitated by Fr. Abhilash, Dy. Director of DBI. This was an eye opener for many as most of the participants never heard of such government schemes. He emphasized the need for more such programmes in his vote of thanks and invited agencies such as KVIC and NSIC to come forward to help out the youngsters of the region to become self dependent.
