Elevestar Dkhar

Elevestar dkhar comes from a very poor family in Malki, Shillong. He lives with his mother and two brothers. His father had passed away when he was class VIII.

In spite of his mother working as a fourth grade government employee life was tough for them even to the extent of Elevator discontinuing his studies to find a job to support his family.

He joined DBTS and undertook a course on Motor Vehicle Mechanism. At DBTS he was exposed to different kind of capacity building program and one of such program which really motivated him to go ahead was the Entrepreneurship program organized by the placement cell.

On completion of his course, he along with two other classmates took up a challenge to initiate to run a Micro Enterprise in Motor Services at DBTS. This is run by them under the supervision and guidance of DBTS's technicians. Elevestar now earns an average of Rs 4000/- per month, which he says is helping him to support himself and his family. His quality of life has since been tremendously improved.
