Andrew Lyngdoh

Mr. Andrew Lyngdoh is from Smit village, 15 km from Shillong. He passed out from DBTS in the year 2008. On completion of a Radio Television (RTV) course from the institute, he soon set himself on the mission to start a repairing workshop, however choosing the location was becoming a concern since his own village had four other such shops. It was then, that a brilliant thought struck him. He decided to move into a Mairang village West khasi hills 45 Km from Shillong and incidentally one of his relative also happened to be in the same village.

Mairang, a sub division of West hasi hills district has a population of more than 50,000 thousand. The location was just right for setting up a repairing shop as there is usually a big weekly market.

Andrew started his own workshop in a rented premise. Within a couple of months, he was able to expand his business and now he has two semi-skilled people as his assistants. His business is doing reasonably well allowing him to save sufficient money and sometimes during festive seasons, he gets to earn as much as Rs 1500/- per week and more. Andrew is now contemplating about expanding his shop into a sub - dealer out let of all household electronic appliances. He has made few contacts with electronic dealers in Shillong in this regards. He says it won’t be too long before his dream materializes.
