Miss. Medalyne Lyngkhoi

Ms. Medalyne Lyngkhoi is a resident of Laitumkhrah, Nongrim Hills, Shillong, from an urban poor family. Her father was a daily wager and sole bread winner of a family of six; she being the second child. Once while on work, her father had an accident which forced him to be bedridden totally. This incident forced Medalyne to give up her studies and took up domestic help as a means to earn a living and support her family. After much effort and struggle, her elder brother fortunately got a government job as peon in the Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Meghalaya. Together they were able to run their family, pay the house rent, look after their ailing father and to meet their other expenses of the family.

Medalyne, not satisfied with the present condition of her occupation, decided to join the Modern Office management Course in DBTS. Through her dedication and hard work, she successfully completed the course in 2007. And then began her futile hunt for jobs through different companies and government agencies.

In 2008, Medalyne received a call letter from the office of District Agriculture for attending the interview for the post of Muster roll cum Office Assistant and to her immense delight, she was selected for the post. She now has a decent income and is able to pursued her studies further in class XII.

She now dreams of completing her bachelor’s degree to improve her employability skills. When asked about her view on the Modern Office Management training she received from DBTS, she was of the view, "It is most relevant with the kind of job I am with".
