Bring Star Kharumnuid

Mr. Bring Star Kharumnuid ( ITI Motor Mechanic 2004) hails from Laitlum village East Khasi Hills, 30 Km from Shillong. Both his parents, Mrs Rilin Kharumniud and Mr. Marius Nongspung are farmers and he is the second among the five brothers.

Bringstar, partially handicapped, could not speak properly by birth, thus he could not continue to pursue college education after his SSLC Examination. He was looking for a labor job in his village, however due to lack of proper communication skills, he never managed to get a decent pay from his local employers. Bringstar grew up becoming discontented and discouraged with life. It was then he came across an advert in the local newspaper regarding the training programs offered at DBTS. He successfully completed the Motor Mechanic Course in 2004.

It seemed as nature was drawing the curtains across his troubled past and the darkness of night embraced all his worries. In a campus recruitment conducted by Geonka Engineering works, out of the 20 candidates who appeared for the interview six got selected, and Bringstar was one of them. He joined as a Mechanic Assistant with salary of Rs.1500/- per month.

Bringstar continued working in this work shop till Aug 2005, soon gaining the appreciation of the management for his dedication and perseverance. The doorways of fortune were waiting to be opened for him. He received an offer letter from North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health National Medical Science, (NEIGRIHMS), permanent campus, Shillong as a Laundry Mechanic. His dedication and hardwork had convinced the Rotary Club of Shillong to certify him the award of appreciation (Vocational Award 2006).
