PAWAN BHARATI
Pawan Bharati spent his childhood in SOS village, an orphanage home for the children. Unlike other children there was nobody to take care of his education and guide him in choosing his career. This is common story of all the children of SOS village. One can imagine the life of an orphan who has to struggle a lot to find his own identity and a source of living. Pawan Bharati was no different from others. Even though he suffered early from his childhood, he had guts to challenge difficulties and find a way for himself. He studied upto Cl. X in the SOS school, Azara but due to his ill health he could not appear for his matriculation examinations. It was also a time for him to leave the SOS village as they would not keep any child after 10th standard. This triggered panic as he had no place to go. One of his teachers in SOS village suggested to him to take technical training in DBTS Maligaon, where the course fees is minimal compared to other institutes and offers concessions to the poor and deserving candidates.
At the age of 19, he moved to Don Bosco Snehalaya hostel and took admission in one year Motor Mechanic course at Maligaon in January 2008. Bharati showed keen interest in the training and took necessary steps to be regular in the class. At times, due to his penury, he had to walk for miles from his hostel to the training institute. In spite of these hardships, he did well in his studies both in theory and practical. With much difficulties and hard work he managed to complete the course on Motor Mechanic in December 2008. After the completion of his training, he joined a reputed private Motor garage for 3 months to sustain his acquired skills and to prepare him for better prospects later on. There, he received a stipend of Rs.1200. This easily met his minimum requirement.
Through DBTS Maligaon and with the intervention of PRT placement cell, he is now employed as a Motor mechanic assistant in a reputed city-based motor workshop called H.M. Auto Colours Pvt. Ltd. This firm is basically into repairing of accident cars. Employed in the month of April 2009, he is on probation period with an earning of Rs.1500 with other allowances. He is doing well in his job and there are good possibilities of him to get better opportunities in his career.
He is a good example for other children living in the orphanage home. His example can be taken up as a good motivating factor for the rest of the children. Pawan Bharati is now an independent person .He can pay for his food and lodging from his own pocket. Bharati also dreams of setting up his own garage one day.
