ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS

Teachers' Animation and students orientation program was organized on 5th and 6th of August 2009 at St. Joseph's Vocational Training Institute (Don Bosco Institution) Dudhani, Dumka. The training program was imparted with the aim to enhance the teaching skills of teachers and perk up learning skills of the students.The program was headed by 4 resource personnel namely Fr. Sunil Kerketta s db; Fr.Sanju Kacchap sdb, Fr. T.V. Johny sdb and Fr. Alex. Topno sdb.

There were 16 teachers, 7 of them from St. Xavier Middle school Murguni and 9 instructors from St. Joseph's VTI. There were 6 input session each for students and the teachers. It started off with dynamic ice breakers, and sessions were followed by themes on ‘Self esteem’, ‘Motivation’, ‘Self awareness - taping out the self potentialities’, ‘Self Acceptance by being aware of ones own abilities’, ‘skills and potentialities’, ‘Preciousness of the person’, and ‘Taking Responsibility for ones own life’. Two days of resource, wrapped up with fun filled activities, along with food for thought, everyone was also provided with food for the belly.Both students and teachers expressed their appreciation alike towards the program and what they benefited from the program. The teachers, acknowledged the fact that these sessions made them comprehend, there is still a long way to go, but the inspiration and resource shared with them by the resource people would enable them to carry this walk forward towards imparting scholastic teaching in an interactive manner. The students were of the opinion that these inputs were totally new for them and would positively assist them to develop their knowledge and skills.
