TRAINING PROGRAM FOR MES ASSESSORS

A Training Program for MES (Modular Employable Skill) Assessors was held on 30th of July 2009 in the Community Hall of Don Bosco SERI, Mirpara.The programme began with a prayer by Fr. C. L. Mathew Rector, DB SERI, Mirpara. Bro.Raj Noronha (Principal, St. Vincent’s Asansol) was the resource person of the program, Fr. Jose Podimattam Coordinator (Don Bosco Technical School, Liluah) and Fr. Jijo John from D.B.T.I Park Circus were also present for the program. The program was attended by about 50 Instructors from 4 different Institutes namely DBSERI, Mirpara, St. Vincent’s Asansol, D.B.T.S, Liluah and D.B.T.I. Park Circus. The Instructors were given 4 tasks by Br. Raj Noronha,To make a list of skills, Based on those skills, make questions, Feedback and How to do assessment and conduct exams.

There were Instructors from 12 different courses who got engaged in a group discussion of the same trade. This was structured in order to find out the different skills that the trainees should have and depending on that skill what are the different probable questions that can be made in diverse ways.The main aim of the training program was to enable them to prepare a common Question Bank with short questions for every institute covering the whole syllabus; how to examine trainees mainly based on their technical skills(practically) and to make them aware of the things that are to be done to conduct the examination like, Meet the Principal of the Institute, Verification of the candidate (Identity Check) and Check the practical files.The program ended with a vote of thanks given by Fr. Jose Podimattam, the Technical Head of the Salesian province of Kolkata.
