TOT Program with the Government of West Bengal

A week long Trainers Training Program(TOT) of Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) under The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005(NREGA) was organized from 27th July to 2nd August 2009 in Don Bosco Self Employment Research Institute, Mirpara, Howrah.

The program was organized by Panchayats and Rural Development Department, Government of West Bengal. The resource persons of the program were Mr. Dipankar Chatterjee, Mr. Tapabrota Ghosh, Mr. Arindam Adhikery and for the soft skill Fr. Alfred Paul.Fifty out going Civil Engineering Technicians Students participated in the training. The week long TOT was conducted in preparation for training the supervisors of the government scheme – “100 days work”. This empowered the young engineers to train the local rural youth with managerial skills, basic knowledge about the contract jobs, making estimates, measurements of land and skills & knowledge regarding construction of ponds, roads, masons works etc.After this short programme they were divided in different groups to take up training programmes in different districts as per the schedule prepared by the government of West Bengal. Within three months 2000 candidates for this government programme are to be trained by them. This collaboration with the government of West Bengal is a long leap into a joint venture to empower the marginalized youth in the years to come.
