Training Programmes for Minority candidates
The Tamil Nadu Minorities’ Economic Development Corporation (TAMCO), Govt. of Tamilnadu, sponsored SIGA Polytechnic College, a Don Bosco Institute in Chennai, to conduct a free Skills Development Training Program on Computer Hardware and Networking for 20 candidates from various minority groups in Tamil Nadu. After the six month’s training that concluded on 24th September 2008, certificates were issued jointly by SIGA and TAMCO. The efficiency of the programme was evident when the beneficiaries returned to the institute to thank their trainers with appointment letters from companies. More such courses are proposed for the benefit of the minority communities, namely Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Parsis.
Leading companies in the city are coming forward to draw up Memoranda of Understanding with Don Bosco Institute of Graphic Arts (SIGA) for joint training programme in areas of graphic design and packaging. The nearly 60 years of accumulated experience of SIGA in designing and implementing training courses in printing technology and allied fields coupled with the need-based approach of high profile companies will definitely lead to greater employment opportunities for thousands of youngsters across the state. The Principal of SIGA Polytechnic College is moving forward to get these programmes endorsed by the Government of Tamil Nadu through CIICP initiatives.
