MGT Training Workshop for Skill Training Centres

Hyderabad, Sep. 26. A three-day workshop for principals and managers of Don Bosco Skill Training Institutes in India commenced on September 25, 2008 at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad. The aim of the workshop was to strive towards a holistic growth of the individuals and through them the growth of the institutions. Fr V.M. Thomas sdb from DBI, Guwahati and Prof. P. Basak, former professor of IIT Kanpur Animated the 23 participants of the programme.
Fr Maddhichetty Noel the Salesian Provincial of Hyderabad Province and Fr Bellamkonda Sudhakar, the Development Office (BSK) Director warmly welcomed the resource persons and participants on behalf of DB Tech India and Provincial House, Hyderabad. During his inaugural address, Fr Noel expressed his great joy in hosting two national level DB Tech meetings in a row in the same month. Citing the example of Europe, he stressed on the importance of Technical Need Analysis (TNA) to keep up the standard of our skill training institutes - high enough to take on the challenges of the ever changing needs of the skill users.
The sessions emphasized on animation rather than mere administration. The workshop rightly tried to relearn from Don Bosco`s method of education, the specific role of the leader. The rich Salesian heritage is being grafted with time-tested tools from the field of psychology and management was used as the model for the a good Mmanagement system.
The commitment to a change for the better was evident in the enthusiastic participation and eagerness to put to practice the simple but profound hints offered by the resource persons. With its fast growing network across the country and ability to influence at the national level, DB Tech India with workshops and seminars such as these, aims to equip itself and evolve into a progressive and effective national body - something that would make Don Bosco proud and youngsters of India `honest citizens` and skilled technicians.
