Urgency of responding to the changing scenario in Technical Education


New Delhi, May 4 2008 12 representatives of Skill training Centers (formal and Non-formal) of the Province of New Delhi, gathered for a day of reflection and Planning at Don Bosco Provincial House New Delhi on 4th May 2008.
The meeting was coordinated by Fr. N.V. George, Coordinator for Technical Commission in the province and Fr. A.M Jose, Director of BOSCO. The following issues were taken up at the meeting:

• The present scenario: the effort and the intervention in skill training, the area of industrial developments in the region, job market, and placement needs.
• The Programme project : “ National Network for Vocational Training”, in collaboration with DMOS COMIDE and JUGEND DRITTE WELT was presented by Fr. AM Jose. The group appreciated the programme project and sketched ways for effective implementation.
• “Don Bosco Plus “: The role of the resource team in facilitating training in various skill training centers.
• Collection and Update of institutional data for www.donboscotechindia.org .
• The web based data bank for Don Bosco MARG (Placement Cell of Province), donboscomarg.org.
• The proposed “Don Bosco University Assam “ networking and collaboration in standardization and certification.
• Collaboration with: Mewat Development Agency for Skill training initiatives in Haryana,Arcelormittal in Jharkhand and Orissa, etc. The team is of the opinion that the new openings by the Cooperates’ CRS programmes with Don Bosco for skill training in new areas, must be studied and responded immediately.

The meeting decided to collaborate and pool the resources to address the need of the youth of the region.
