Genesis
Don Bosco Industrial Training Centre {DBITC}, Kokar, established in 1987, came into existence as a response of the Don Bosco Society to the need of the tribal youth. The Institute prepares well-trained, qualified and employable youth for the fast growing industries in the richest mineral belt of the Indian Subcontinent. It was affiliated to NCVT in 1991.
Aim:-Educating and qualifying the tribal youth to get employed or self-employed through vocational / skills training. Through the training local youth are identified and trained to be leaders in society. Various courses and programmes are conducted for the youth to become aware of the oppressive and unjust systems in society.
Activities:-Formal (Turner, Machinist Father and Welder) and Functional Vocational Training (Electrical,Tailoring, Knitting, Office Management, Computer, Fabrication and Precision Work. Placement Cell, Night School and Reach out Programmes are offered. It also has tuition and remedial classes for poor school going children.

DBITC, Kokar, established in 1987, came into existence as a response of the Salesians of Don Bosco to the keenly-felt need for a Vocational Training Institute that prepared well-trained, qualified and employable youth for the fast growing industries in the richest Mineral Belt of the Indian Subcontinent. DBITC is a unit of Bosco Educational And Development Society, owned by the Salesian Province of New Delhi.
Aim of the Institute
The Aim of the Institute is to equip Tribal boys and girls with quality Technical/Vocational training in relevant trades/skills. The training is job-oriented with special stress on Practical Training in workshops with state of art facilities and equipments, so as to enable them to enter the Job market as skilled craftsmen who are quality human persons. The trainees are formed to build their own lives and to contribute positively to the building of a better India.
Method of Education - The Don Bosco Way
The Method of Education followed is the System perfected by Don Bosco. It is based on Reason, Religion, Loving Kindness, Conviction, Self Confidence, Fraternal Correction, Loving Respect for Elders and Teachers, Love of one's Motherland and Culture, Dignity of the Human Person, Dignity of Labor, and above all Love of God and FellowHuman Beings.

Evaluation and Monitoring
Since employability depends on qualification and quality of the trainee, assessment and evaluation are conducted regularly (weekly, monthly, quarterly). The trainee and the guardian are informed of the progress made and measures are taken to ensure improvement. The quality and the effectiveness of the trainers are evaluated periodically. They are provided in service training and capacity building to enhance their performance.
Net Working
The institute has a wide net work with other similar training centres of Don Bosco Croup for greater quality and efficiency in training and management. Don Bosco ITC Kokar, Ranchi has its own net work with local Industries and Training institutes.
Placement Cell
This is the Don Bosco Centre for Guidance, Advancement and Placement. It has its headquarters in New Delhi and Regional Offices at different strategic locations, Don Bosco ITC Ranchi, being one of them.
Simultaneous to the trade skill provided to the trainees by the training institute, MARG equips them with human skills to increase their employability. On Completion of training they are assisted with placement
