Brief History of the Technical Institution:
This Institution was started under the leadership of Rev.Fr.Bosco John Sdb, the Director of Don Bosco Vazhikatti at Chennai as an ‘Entrepreneurship Development Institute’ in the year 2006. In 2007 state Government recognition was acquitted and the centre was upgraded to be an ‘Industrial School’ under the SCVT (State Certificate in Vocational Training) pattern.
The Institution functions from July to June every year with major holidays at Christmas time and summer. The Rector is also the Principal and Correspondent of the Institution and a separate Salesian Priest takes care of the administration. Majority of the students are hostellers and the programme is co-educational.
AIM: The aim of the institution is to serve the poor rural youth and work for their all round development such as body, mind, spirit, personality, leadership, life coping and life management. We work to make them as good citizens and good humans who will become seeds for good change and transformation.
As regards achievements, two batches of students have already moved out and are placed in jobs and the third batch of students is in training.
As for fund management, we are supported by the province in a big way and the students contribution by way of Tuition fees is also supportive.
Future plan of the Institution:
As the district of Villupuram (where the institution is situated) and Cuddalore are quite poor. Economically, it is important that the institution continues to serve the poorest village youth through these courses. Upgrading the institution might keep away the poor and the aim will be defeated.
Rector or Director’s Message regarding the Institution:
We are very glad to serve the poor youth through this institution. The youth are very grateful to the salesians and very cooperative. They, as adolescents are able to understand that we are working for them. They are really pious. Only issue is that the youth wonder and fear about their future employment and career. Once that is assured and little more facilities are offered in their training they will grow into successful and achieving citizens who will be responsible.
